MATTER TO BE REFERRED TO COUNCIL

 

45/21 – MEMBER LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY - YEAR 5:The Democratic Services Officer (DSO) submitted a written report which provided a summary of Year 4 of the Member Learning and Development Strategy and sought to gain approval for Year 5 of the Strategy. A summary, and attendance figures, of Year 4 briefings and training sessions was attached to the report at Appendix 1 and the proposed schedule for Year 5 was attached to the report at Appendix 2.

 

The Democratic Services Officer gave a summary of the report and appendices and advised that all mandatory training areas were to be scheduled during the 2022/23 year.

 

In response to a question the DSO advised that were any subjects suggested by Members through the 2022/23 Council year the matter would be proposed to the relevant officers and if agreed the training or briefing session would be added to the schedule.

 

RECOMMENDED (UNANIMOUSLY):

 

That     (1) the attendance figures for Year 4 of the Member Learning and Development Strategy be noted; and

 

(2) the Member Learning and Development Programme for 2022/23, Year 5 of the Member Learning and Development Strategy, be approved.

MATTER DEALT WITH UNDER DELEGATED POWERS

 

46/21 – POLLING STATION LOCATION PROPOSALS: The Democratic Services Officer (DSO) presented a written report on proposed changes to three polling station locations in advance of the county council and parish elections to be held on 5 May 2022. The proposed changes were outlined in paragraph 2.1 of the report and were intended to improve access to polling stations and provide the next best location where a previous polling station site was unavailable.

 

In response to a question the DSO explained that the Parish Council in each of the polling areas had been consulted on the changes.

 

RESOLVED (UNANIMOUSLY):

 

That the following proposed changes be noted:

 

(1) The polling station at Quarry Moor Activities Centre serving the ward of Fountains and Ripley be moved to Harrogate Road Methodist Church, Ripon.

 

(2) Voters in Baldersby whose polling station had been moved to Rainton Village Hall, instead vote at the St James Church, Baldersby St James

 

(3) Voters in South Stainley whose polling station had been moved to Markington Village Hall, revert back to The Inn at South Stainley.
